And now, my review:

Raising Successful Teens by Jeffrey Dean is a well-flowing book of encouragement for parents.  I felt that this book helps parents to see the difference between Truth and the lies we buy into.  What I mean by this is he points out that God has placed us as the parents to our teens and He (God) has a purpose in it.  He is equipping us to parent them all the way through.  Our teens need us in their lives and He (God) will give us all that we need when we need it.  The enemy on the other hand is relentless to deceive our teens.  This author points out plans to help us parent and for me personally with 3 teens in my house, this was a Godsend of a book.  Very timely.  If you’re a parent or involved with teens, I recommend you pick up this book.

A Voice Becoming by Beth Bruno is a Mother-Daughter book that helps Moms navigate through the parenting years of a maturing daughter in her tween and teen years.  I was very interested in reading this because I have a couple of daughters and we are starting the journey through these years as I read.  I love that this author is sharing what she is learning and in a sense is on the journey with us as I read.  This author gives great help in a direction to go with your daughter(s) and I really appreciated her sharing.  Here’s to a right of passage to the Glory of God.

And now, my review:
This book talks about the Gospel and what is called the “me-gospel” which isn’t the gospel at all.  Instead it is what we think might be the gospel that we live out, but it’s all about ourselves instead of Christ and coming to Him and dying to ourselves.  My favorite part was when she talks about “enough” and the truth involved in our desperate need for Christ each and every day.  Learning to speak truth to our children and see our lives in service to Christ as we’re given the opportunity to raise some littles that He’s given us.  What a gift!  I recommend this book for those who are looking to walk out their days Gospel focused/driven.

If I had a Parenting Do Over by Jonathan McKee

Now for my review:

What a great opportunity for us parents to learn from this author and all the feedback he has received about what they would change if they had to do it all over again, blessings and failures.  The author shares a lot of his experience from years of youth ministry and being a dad himself.  I loved that he shared personal experiences and he finishes the book really well (with Scripture).  Personally, I have found a couple of things I’m looking forward to applying and in God’s grace and timing with His power at work in us; there is encouragement to press on for the glory of God.  If you are completely discouraged or just looking for a great parenting book or somewhere in between this might just be the one.  There’s always hope in finding a take away to start applying today.
