When God Says Wait by Elizabeth Laing Thompson

Here is the book summary:
A job, a true love, a baby, a cure. . .
We’re all waiting for something from God.
And the place between His answers can feel like a wasteland where dreams—and faith—go to die.

When we’re waiting, we wonder, “Why?”, “Why me?”, and “How long?”

But the truth? . . .
When God says, “Wait,” He doesn’t tell us for how long.
When God says, “Wait,” we face one of life’s greatest tests.
When God says, “Wait,” we have decisions to make.
When God says, “Wait,” we can control only two things: how we wait, and who we become along the way.

Author Elizabeth Laing Thompson invites you to journal through your personal "wait" and come out on the other side with your faith, relationships, and sense of humor intact.

This lovely volume will encourage and inspire you in your wait--with meaningful devotional thoughts, scriptural truths, and thought-provoking journal prompts.

Features:
·       A beautiful, textured hardcover binding
·       Delightfully designed one-color interior with quality paper
·       Dozens of encouraging, inspiring thoughts from Elizabeth Laing Thompson's popular Christian living title When God Says, "Wait"
·       Generous space to record personal thoughts and feelings
·       Thought-provoking reflection questions and journal prompts
·       Scripture selections on every spread

And now, my review:
When I held this journal in my hands, I was so elated because the feel of this hard-covered textured journal feels so heavenly.  It’s the little things that add up while going through times of waiting that I embrace to be thankful over.  This book is great with the spinning computer circle icon with every page.  On each page she has a verse on the left-hand side and thoughts with writing prompts on the right.  I found that there are plenty of lines to write on and I think this is a God-send for those waiting times in our journey with the Lord.  Bravo to the author and designer of this amazing journal for the tough times.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Devoted Life by Marjorie Jackson

Here is the book summary:
Come Experience It for Yourself. . . Life Is Good with a God Who Is Great!

This topically guided creative journal for teen girls offers inspiration and encouragement for those who desire to live their lives fully devoted to Christ. Amidst the loud, confusing voices of the world, trying to tell them which way is the right way to go, girls need to stop, rest, refuel, and reflect in the presence of their truest Friend and most loyal heavenly Father. Whether it’s through creativity, meditating on scripture, prayer, or writing, readers will join young author and artist, Marjorie Jackson, for a time of life-giving fun, faith-strengthening encouragement, and God-glorifying growth. As girls connect with their first love, Jesus, they will begin to understand that life is truly good with a God who is absolutely great!

And now, my review.
When I received The Devoted Life by Marjorie Jackson I was so excited.  With a teenager in the house, I was excited to have her check this journal out.  It is full of questions and topics that get you started in a direction of thinking and away you are on a time of growing in the Lord.  You can also color as well, which is a great option for my artist daughter.  The cover is SO super beautiful and I just LOVE it.  It’s broken up in “sections” and there are 31 of them.  You could take a week thinking/reflecting through a section or you could do a section a day and repeat it throughout the year, journaling to see how you are growing in that area over the year.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Daily Question for You and Your Child by Waterbrook

Here is the book summary:
A fun, thought-provoking 365-question guided journal and keepsake that sparks daily interaction with your child to create a memory book capturing your child's life, personality, and faith journey.

This interactive prompted journal allows a parent to create a keepsake of three years of their child's life. By answering each of the 365 questions together on the same date each year, readers will get a unique and precious picture into their child's feelings, development, and personality. Some of the questions focus on spirituality and the child's heart, while some are meant to capture their creativity, spirit, and sense of humor. All questions spark conversations and memories that span well beyond the pages of this book.

And now, my review:
What a fun way to connect with my child every day and doing it for 3 years in a row, which is how the book is broken down, gives me loads of memorabilia.  The questions are simple for every age and yet pointed to get the best picture of my child at every age I am using the book.  I think I could even do it one year, wait for one to 2 years and journal again their thoughts, and wait and then do it for the final look into their world of answering these simple questions.  One of the questions: Describe a sunset.  The answer for this would grow with their abilities to describe such scenes.  Another question is: What is something you would teach someone else.  This would also change with years and it would be precious to capture in one place the sweet answers of my little one.  While doing this with my littlest one, she asks me after I write her responses, “what do you think Mama?”  In other words, she wants to hear how I would answer the questions, too. J  I love the connection that this book brings to our times together.  This is a great way for me to be intentional with my child every day of the year.

I received a copy of this book from Waterbrook in exchange for my honest review.  #PRHpartner  @WaterBrookMultnomah
