Find Your Weigh by Shellie Bowdoin

Here is the book summary:

When has a diet ever yielded long-term weight results?

If you have ever felt hopeless about your weight or struggled with the up and down rollercoaster of yo-yo dieting, Find Your Weigh offers a new perspective and proactive steps to change your relationship with food. You will develop a mental framework and workable habits that will allow you to enjoy all kinds of food in a healthy, managed, Holy Spirit-empowered way!

When we think about losing weight, we immediately think of a diet. However, diets are only short-term fixes to target our weight, which is really just a symptom of our behavior with food. If we really want to change our weight story, we've got to target our behavior with food and uncover the beliefs that actually inform that behavior. The problem is that most of us have no idea what we believe or why we act the way that we do with food.

It's time to walk in freedom over food and weight. Join Shellie Bowdoin as she shares her own weight journey and lays out practical, "aha" steps to help you renew your mind with food. Filled with biblical insights, practical steps and interactive questions, Find Your Weigh helps uncover your excuses and mental blocks with food so you can develop new, workable habits that you can see yourself following next week, next month and next year!

Filled with biblical insights, practical steps, and interactive questions, this book will help you get to the bottom of your food issues to help you figure out why you do what you do and think what you think when it comes to food. Find Your Weigh will lead you through a proven process that will yield tailor-made solutions to fit your preferences and your lifestyle.

Instead of looking for another diet or another workout plan, it's time to alter your relationship with food for good. The only way to do this is to renew your thinking and establish focused eating habits that you can carry on for the rest of your life. I did it and, for the first time in my life, I've taken weight off its pedestal in my head and replaced it with living.

Find Your Weigh is written to be motivational and practical. It can be used alone to set up healthy food habits for successful weight maintenance or alongside another proven weight loss plan.

·       - 50 - day interactive journal with weekly guided reflection questions

·       - Practical steps for developing food habits to include all types of foods into your daily life

·       - Guided practice for developing new life-long eating habits without hunger or deprivation

·       - Personal reflections from my own real-life weight journey

This book also comes with a companion group Bible study. Check out the Find Your Weigh: Walk In Freedom Bible Study Guide by Shellie Bowdoin.

Free video links are also available for use with the study guide. Both the book and the study guide can be used alongside any healthy weight loss program or to help you set up a healthy plan for weight maintenance.

And now, my review:

I really enjoyed Find Your Weigh by Shelley Bowdoin.  In this book she points out a mind over matter approach that can be so freeing.  It’s about our thought processes and the actions tied to them.  I loved how it motivates the read to success.  It’s very practical and not a never have that food again kind of plan.  It’s not about dieting but freedom in getting down to the things that weigh us down.  I also enjoyed how transparent this author was and how much she shares with her readers.

I found Models Do Eat by Jill de Jong to be a fun read.  For me, it’s super important to have pictures of the recipes and this book did not disappointment there.  Along with the recipes, there is a glimpse into the lives of many different models and what their industry looks like.  My favorite part was at the beginning when she spoke on topics like: organic, calories, fat, pH balance, etc.

Seven Sundays by Alec Penix

Seven Sundays: A Faith, Fitness, and Food Plan for Lasting Spiritual and Physical Change by [Penix, Alec, Murphy, Myatt]

Here is the book summary:

A Biblically grounded, six-week plan to lead you on the path toward losing weight and getting healthier by focusing on the connections between spiritual and physical health—“Seven Sundays is a powerful tool that will enlighten you to see wellness and spirituality with a fresh perspective” (Kathie Lee Gifford).

In Seven Sundays, celebrity trainer and devoted follower of Christ Alec Penix explains the connection between faith and fitness, and shares both his own and his clients’ success stories. When our spiritual and physical bodies are built up simultaneously, we find ourselves more likely to stick with healthier, life-changing habits, appreciate what we have, be thankful for what we’ve gained (and lost), and feel content with how far we’ve traveled.

Seven Sundays is a six-week program that shows you how easy it is to undergo your own total transformation. The book is organized as a day-by-day journey in the same manner as a daily devotional. Over the course of each week, you will work on the “6 Pillars of Purpose” that build up this strength. You will also enjoy “Faith-Full” foods and explore a new spiritual theme each week. Ultimately, you’ll undertake a meaningful journey that will finally connect your body and spirit.

Seven Sundays is sure to “inspire people to become the best version of themselves, through strengthening their body, mind, and spirit” (Roma Downey, actress, producer, and New York Times bestselling author of Box of Butterflies). You’ll learn to embrace the fact that you deserve to exercise, eat right, and be healthy, and recognize your body as a spiritual vessel.

And now, my review:

Upon the completion, I found Seven Sundays by Alec Penix to be such a fulfilling, amazing read that I’ve been so blessed by and plan to reference for years in my journey of lasting health. This is a great fitness resource that not only works on the outward but MORE importantly directs us to reflect in and up to the Savior for a lasting lifestyle approach.  That’s my favorite part of the book BY FAR though I benefitted greatly and personally by the exercise and nutrition as well.  The heart of the author comes through each day of the journey for the length of Seven Sundays (and Praise be to Jesus for His work in this man’s life and His ministry placed on him to share with others this way).  I love the use of CHOSEN which you’ll understand when you purchase your copy of this top fitness resource and start your Seven Sundays’ journey.

Here is the book summary:
Get Rid of the Gluten, Not the Good Taste
Are you one of the roughly three million people in the US who struggles with celiac disease? Do you have an intolerance or sensitivity to gluten? Whatever your reason for incorporating gluten-free foods into your daily diet, this one-of-a-kind cookbook adapts all your family favorite recipes into incredibly delicious gluten-free family favorites.
Ditch the gluten, but none of the foods you love, with these mouthwatering recipes:
·        Little Smoky BBQ Bacon Bites
·        Sinfully Cinnamon Cinnamon Rolls
·        Blissful Buttermilk Biscuits
·        Cilantro-Lime Shredded Chicken Tacos
·        Chocolate Chip Cheesecake
...and so much more!
Yes, you can still enjoy all your favorite foods and live a successful gluten-free life!

And now, my review:
My thanks to Tami and her Mom, Bonnie.  I love that Harvest House has put a book out that touches my heart and my tummy in a great way.   I’ve been strictly gluten-free since 2012 and it’s always great to mix up the recipes a bit and be inspired by looking through a book about it.  That is why I picked up this book.  This is definitely for beginners on the gluten-free journey, which at the beginning can feel overwhelming. But this book not only shares some great recipes but it also adds Scripture as well.  Breakfast, bread, main dishes, and desserts all made so gluten-free people can eat it.  The personalities of both authors are such a delight to read from.  My favorite recipes are Lemon Butter Shrimp and Asparagus, Dill Pickle Veggie Dip, and Butterfinger Carmel Cheesecake.

Eat, Live, Thrive Diet by Danna Demetre and Robyn Thomson

Here is the book summary:
From the well-known health and lifestyle coaches of the widely popular website Lean Healthy Ageless (formerly Ageless Woman Living) comes a practical, science-based diet book that unravels the mystery of why women gain weight as they age and includes a sustainable plan to permanently lose the pounds and inches.

Eat, Live, Thrive Diet shows women how they can not only lose excess body fat permanently but also improve their overall health in critical areas such as brain function, resistance to disease, slowing down external aging, and increasing energy. This highly effective eating plan is presented in a compassionate voice by two experienced health coaches who share personal experiences of battling weight and emotional eating issues. Whereas most diets are short-lived or require substantial upkeep to maintain, Eat, Live, Thrive Diet is a viable eating plan that women can adhere to indefinitely. In addition to minimizing sugar intake, the plan emphasizes the importance of short-term intermittent fasting--a simple lifestyle change that makes it easier and more effective for many mature women to reach their health and weight loss goals. The book also highlights health risks and drawbacks of many popular fad diets that can be harmful on a long-term basis.

And now, my review:
Eat Live Thrive Diet by these lovely ladies is a great book that breaks through some issues and helps in so many areas.  I personally don’t pick up “diet” books because I live more in a healthy body for life way of thinking and not dieting way of life.  Believing strongly in life living and not just to lose and go back to bad habits. BUT I am so thankful that I picked this resource up!  I felt that they were very thorough in bringing up so many targeted materials that are out there and things that I would love to know more about.  I wish they had added more to the exercise area of this book and even to the point of giving some routines.  The help in finding how my personal body reacts to all kinds of foods is a game changer and that has got to be my favorite part of this book beyond their shared faith in God through Jesus Christ.  If you’re looking for a lifestyle change for the better and great help in maintaining and sustaining your metabolism you’ll want to pick this one up.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

And now, my review:
Diet For The Mind by Martha Clare Morris is a book I desired to read to learn more about food and how it affects the brain.  I know people who are affected by dementia and other things like that so I have a desire to learn more about this.  This book is broken down into 2 parts with 15 separate chapters that seem to meet all the needs to learn more about how food affects our brains.  To go along with her research she included 80 recipes.
